AAU Staff Directory & Contacts

President/ Executive Office

President
Responsible for the overall activities of the association, and works with the AAU Executive Committee and the member presidents and chancellors to define and implement the association's mission and agenda

Director for Partners Programs
Oversees the AAU Partners meetings and programs, provides advice and support to the AAU Partners Council.

Assistant to the President
Supports the president, staffs the Executive Committee. Assists in planning the membership meetings.

Executive Vice President
Serves as deputy to the President and chief operating officer. Responsible for issues related to intellectual property, information technology, research libraries and scholarly communication, and AAU membership. Staffs the AAU Intellectual Property/Information Technology and AAU Membership Committees. Staffs the Chief Academic Officers (CAO) constituent group.

Assistant to the Executive Vice President
Supports the Executive Vice President. Assists in planning the Chief Academic Officers’ (CAO) annual meeting.

Federal Relations

Vice President for Federal Relations
Responsible for oversight of the association’s federal relations activities. Oversees and coordinates the Council on Federal Relations (CFR) constituent group. Has primary responsibility for issues related to higher education tax policy, including policies related to university endowments; higher education finance and the costs of attending college; and the Department of Defense.

Associate Vice President for Federal Relations
Responsible for issues related to the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Department of Homeland Security, and visas/international students. Also shares responsibility for monitoring export control issues. Staffs the AAU Internationalization Committee.

Associate Vice President for Federal Relations
Responsible for issues related to higher education including student aid, undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral, and international education (excluding visa and immigration issues). Also responsible for issues related to the humanities.

Associate Vice President for Federal Relations
Responsible for issues related to the National Institutes of Health and biomedical research. Staffs the Association of Graduate Schools (AGS) constituent group.

Federal Relations Associate
Responsible for writing and analysis in support of AAU’s federal relations agenda. Monitors legislation, covers hearings, and participates in meetings with various advocacy coalitions.

Administrative Assistant, Federal Relations
Provides general administrative support for the federal relations department. Assists in planning the CFR monthly and annual meetings.

AAU Policy

Vice President for Policy
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating AAU’s policy activities and matters relating to innovation and competitiveness. Responsible for issues related to the Department of Energy and shares responsibility for matters concerning export controls, scientific openness and security, technology transfer, and research costs. Staffs the Senior Research Officers (SRO) constituent group.

Director of Policy Analysis
Responsible for identifying and conducting research and policy analysis that underpins AAU policy positions and recommendations as well as supports AAU’s mission and objectives.

Policy Analyst and ACLS Fellow
Responsible for performing research and policy analysis in support of AAU’s mission and objectives.

Project Manager, AAU STEM Initiative
Responsible for managing and supporting the logistical, technical and substantive components of the AAU undergraduate STEM education initiative.

Assistant, Policy
Supports the Vice President for Policy, the Senior Policy Analyst, and the policy department. Assists in the planning of the Senior Research Officers (SRO) annual meeting. Coordinates the AAU Intern Program.

Public Affairs

Vice President for Public Affairs
Responsible for the association’s public affairs and media relations activities including developing and implementing communications and media systems to support AAU's members. Staffs the Public Affairs Network (PAN) constituent group.

Associate Vice President for Public Affairs
Serves as deputy to Vice President for Public Affairs and as editor of AAU's constituency communications and website. Staffs the Public Affairs Network (PAN) constituent group.

Assistant to the Vice President for Public Affairs / Partners Coordinator
Supports the Vice President of Public Affairs and the Associate Vice President of Public Affairs. Coordinates the AAU Partners constituent group program and meetings. Assists in planning the Public Affairs Network (PAN) annual meeting.

Office Operations

Director of Human Resources and Administration
Responsible for office operations, human resources, and personnel. Staffs AAU Membership Committee, liaison to AAU Data Exchange.

Director of Finance and Benefits
Manages the association’s accounting and financial activities and employee benefits.

Meetings Manager
Responsible for all logistical planning and onsite management of the biannual membership meeting, the CFR Retreat and the AGS annual meeting. Plans all logistical aspects of other constituent group meetings, the CFR monthly meetings, and various ad hoc and in-town meetings and events.

Receptionist/Meeting Assistant
As receptionist, answers phones and provides general office support. As meetings assistant, assists the meeting manager with the logistical planning and coordinating of AAU’s conference rooms and AAU constituent meetings.

Director of Information Technology
Directs and coordinates activities related to the operation of the association's information technology department.

IT Support Specialist
Provides support to Director of Information Technology and monitors and manages general office information technology-related issues.
